Depends on where in India you want to visit. August is gonna be towards the latter end of the rainy season in India, but still some places can expect heavy rains. Also a couple of cyclones, on the east coast side.
That said, some places are best visited in/just after the rainy season. The lush greenery in Goa, for example, is a sight for sore eyes.
