If you want to spend your holiday in a quiet town surrounded with greenery by the seashore, try out Marmagaon. If you want to spend your vacation in a bustling city with hundreds of shopping outlets, try out Panaji/Baga. It's off season in Goa so it isn't difficult to find accommodation within your budget, especially in the towns. Ask your hotel manager to arrange for a bike/cab. If you are travelling within your town/city, you could rent a bike. For inter-city travel, it's best you take a cab/bus. In case you choose to take a bike, either carry a map or ensure the GPS on your mobile is functioning. Food is affordable. Dinner at the beach in a shack is a must as this is an experience that can't be replicated elsewhere in India. Significant places to visit are: Calangute (Queen of Goa's Beaches), Basilica of Bom Jesus (Old Goa - World Heritage Site), Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary and Elephant Conservation Centre, Terekol Fort (northern most point of Goa), Arambol lake/ Vagkolam lake (only freshwater lake in Goa) and Mandovi river dolphin trip.
