i want to go to goa island and live just like the hippies for a while and i just don't know where because i know there is a tourist side of goa that is expensive. i am a photographer and i also write and i want to document this experience of "living with/like hippies". i'm quite a hippie myself and i don't have a lot of money to spend there, but would really like to stay there for a month or two. if anybody has done something similar lately and can tell me where to go and where to find cheap accommodation i would really apreciate it.

By the look of it some of them never left and have been there since the 60s!

My advice would be to either to the far North of Goa (Arambol beach) or the far south (Palolem) - this is where the cheapest accommodation is and where most hippies hang out. When I was there I heard of a little hippie community staying in a wooded area just north of Arambol beach.

Another option is Gokarna in the state of Karnataka, around 100km south of Goa. About a decade or so ago a lot of hippies moved there because Goa had become so touristy. Gokarna was reputed to be "like Goa in the 60s". I stayed there for a few days a few years ago, and it was pretty idyllic. But don't expect anything fancy accommodation-wise. I stayed in a hut with no furniture whatsoever. I had to lay out all my clothes to create bedding soft enough to sleep on.

I hope you enjoy it and smoke a chillum for me! : )

I dont comprehend the large information because of fact i'm no longer in my view hassle-free via them, yet to an interloper, it appears that evidently like she has heavily enable her daughter down. For a start up - she replaced into 15, and had a 25 three hundred and sixty 5 days old boyfriend!!! Who could be mushy with that - why could a ' everyday' 25 three hundred and sixty 5 days old be interested in a new child. I hate those 'unfastened spirit' hippies they are undesirable place fashions, straight forward and easy. My babies are the main severe people in my life - could I go away them interior the care of somebody I somewhat knew - no - I even have themes leaving them with their grandparents, I as a mom dont relax until eventually i comprehend they are ok. To me she looks very irresponsible and it is a few thing that she would be waiting to ought to stay with for the remainder of her life, so i'm no longer likely to rant, the punishment she is going by way of is adequate. i've got self assurance sorry for the people who by way of no fault of their very own have lost somebody close.

Goa is cheap, especially early Nov, and late Feb, at the beginning and end of the season. Beach huts between £1 and £5 per night average. Plenty of 'hippies', and plenty of tourists mixed together, plenty to write about, plenty to photograph...try not to go mad!
