Can I use my current MTS Mobility device to roam internationally?

Possibly, but not always. MTS has extensive roaming agreements in place that permits you to roam in certain countries which have CDMA networks with certain devices. In order to roam in countries with GSM networks, you will need to purchase the Motorola A840. It is important to determine if your wireless device will roam on the frequency of the wireless carrier for the country you are visiting. Please email internationalroam@mtsallstream.com for more information or call Customer Care at 255-5687 (CALLMTS).

Can I use the same mobile number when I travel internationally?

Yes, your number won’t need to change just because you are in a different country. At time of service activation you will be assigned one mobile number. This mobile number will apply to all calls regardless of whether they are in North America or overseas.

How do I make and receive calls when roaming in GSM coverage areas?

Refer to the Quick Reference Guide that comes pre-packaged with the Motorola A840 box.

How do I retrieve Voice Mail while overseas?

While overseas you will be placing an international call back to your home province to check your Voice Mail. Press and hold the “0” until the “+” sign appears, enter “1” and your 10-digit number (including area code). Press “9” to interrupt your greeting, and when prompted, enter your password. Be aware that additional fees may apply to make administrative changes to your Voice Mail while overseas. Refer to the Quick Reference Guide that comes pre-packaged with the Motorola A840 box.

Will calls and voicemail I receive from home cost extra?

Technically speaking it should work as 3 "piggyback" onto a GSM network when the sub roams out of 3G coverage. However, they are well known for barring SIMs which don't go onto their own network and as the E900 is a GSM only handset you could do but expect to have 3 on the phone shortly reprimanding you. Personally I wouldn't chance it, either get a 3 phone, another 3G capable handset or don't use 3. The decision is yours! (sounds like a quote from Blind Date that doesn't it)
