India is a fantastic country of paradoxes. It is breathtakingly beautiful, and at the same time can show you some of the ugliest sights. The people are warm and friendly, yet others will try and rip you off however they can.
Travelling in India is the best experience because any country you travel to after that seems easy! It is a challenge to get from A to B (even if B is only a couple of miles down the road from A), but your efforts to see the country are rewarded with the most amazing scenery, buildings, people, animals, religions etc!
There will be times when you hate the place and the people who seem to be doing all they can to annoy you on long train journeys, or at shops and in guesthouses etc. But I bet you, as soon as you leave, you'll be longing to go back and let India happen to you all over again.

Great idea. But first learn at least a bit about the culture, religion and style of life. Also get to know its geography, most attractive places, sightseeings... If you visit only a couple of cities, you will hardly get a right idea about what India is. This is a small world in itself. A world of great diversity in everything. A truly fascinating country worth visiting again and again.

It's a nice place to visit.I stay here. You can fly to the capital Delhi.(where i live). Here there are some super luxurios hotels and many historical monuments. But do not stay in delhi long, you'll get sick of it. From delhi you can get a train to either the desert area in rajasthan or to the mountains in the himachal pradesh and jammu riegon where you will find many camps which arrange many activities such as rafting, climbing and trekking.
P.S.:if you will be travelling to non-urban areas like in the mountains be sure to purchase a guide like the lonely planet-India,It can really help. For instance it can tell you where there are good and clean place to eat and to stay.

Also when going to India, becareful when going to and from the airport. There are like 10 different security points to the International Airport. It is tiring and the pain in the neck.

It is one of the most life changing/awarness trips you could do. It was one of my 1st & I spent 6 months there & couldn't wait to leave but then I was back there 1 year later & have been back 3 times.

I'd love to but as it's a "Sub-continent" I think that in order to fully appreciate the country, I'd have to spend a year there. To me, it seems like one of the most interesting countries in the world.
